John Bice

My work is about light. Light being reflected by, absorbed by, illuminated with, shadowed from .. it is catching all the interactions of light with a chosen subject.

I am a Shenandoah Valley based landacape, nature and astro-photographer. I am an aspiring storyteller with a love for sun, sand and all things outdoors. Having lived most of my life in Baltimore, Maryland, the “outdoors”, for me, has always meant the Chesapeake Bay and urban cityscapes. After moving to the valley, I became captivated by the landscapes, wildlife and all of the stars! Photography began as a way for me to simply document the beauty that I was finding as I explored my new home. It has quickly become my outlet, my passion and my means for artistic expression. I enjoy creative exploration and challenging traditional perspectives in my photography. I love the challenge of telling a story in camera and enjoy sharing and discussing my techniques worth others.

I'm Susan Bock and I have been hand tinting my own black and white photos for many years, displaying many of them on Monterey's Cannery Row when I lived in California. About 18 years ago I started restoring old historic photographs and then hand tinting with my special oils to give them color. The historic images are first restored to their original beauty before the hand-tinting process begins. After printing on a special photographic paper, I apply oils to add the color. It definitely brings the images alive again for all to enjoy! What a treasure these images are and what a pleasure it is to work on them. I now show my work in 25 art shows a year in 10 states in the fall and in the spring. My complete collection has grown to over 1500 images and can be viewed at www.art2die4.net.

David Buckwalter

Picture
Raised between the Appalachian Mountains and Ohio’s Rust Belt, David “Buck” Buckwalter developed an unquenchable thirst for exploration, adventure, and discovery at an early age. His interest in photography sparked almost as soon as he could hold his father’s Pentax, and he quickly found himself mastering the basics. Currently, Buck spends his days maintaining the Nuclear Operation Simulator at North Anna Power Station in Mineral, Virginia, and his free time combining his technical expertise and creative visions with a professional acumen to create unique photographs. Although an avid traveler who participates in all genres of photography, he has found the heart and soul of his craft to be a voice for rural Appalachia, sharing his views of the quiet landscapes and indigenous wildlife of the region with local customers and global followers alike. Buck is currently a member in good standing with the Professional Photographers of America.
